User Functions

Arm Away: Arm Away is used when you plan on arming the system and leaving the home.

  • To arm away, press the Doors + Windows button and the Motions button together. This will arm your doors, windows, motion, and glassbreak detectors.

Exit Delay Timer: customize the time permitted between arming your system and exiting the property.

1. Start with your system in a disarmed state. Press the up or down arrows until you get to System Programming, then press Ok.

2. Enter the default installer code 4321, then press Ok to enter the system programming menu, which first displays Access Codes. If this code differs on your system, you can text a Support Representative any time at 469.513.8685.

3. Press the up or down arrows to scroll to Timers, then press Ok.

4. Press the up or down arrows to scroll to Exit Delay, then press Ok.

5. Enter a value between 45 to 240 seconds, then press Ok.

6. Press Status several times to exit.

Arm Stay: Arm Stay turns monitoring on the doors, windows, and glass-break detectors. This is designed for perimeter devices.

  • To arm stay, press the Doors + Windows button once.

Arm Stay Instant: Arm Stay Instant arms all perimeter sensors without entry delay and bypasses interior motion detectors.

  • Press Doors + Windows twice to arm doors and windows with no entry delay.

Silent Arming: useful for arming your system without disturbing other occupants, such as when leaving early in the morning before others wake.

  • Press Silent after arming to turn off exit delay beeps while arming.

Disarm System: this will disarm zones and sensors from an armed state.

  • Press Disarm, then enter your user code to disarm the system.

Disarm Reset Alarm: this will disarm your system, and it will silence and reset any active alarm.

  • Press Disarm, then enter your user code to disarm during an alarm.

Check Your System Status:  Checking your system's status will display which sensors are currently open or if any of your sensors are experiencing a trouble condition, such as a low battery.

  • To check your system's status, press the Status button.

Check Cellular Signal Strength: determine the quality and reliability of your system's cellular communicator.

  • Check the cellular signal strength by holding 5 on the keypad for 10 seconds. The minimum signal strength should be at least 2 bars.

Communication Test: ensure your system has a stable connection to Brinks Home by sending a test signal.

  1. Press the down arrow to scroll to System Tests.

  3. Enter your master code, then press Ok.

  5. Press the down arrow to scroll to Comm Test, then press Ok.

  7. Wait while a test signal is sent to Brinks Home.

  9. If successful, the screen will display Test Signal Sent OK; otherwise, Com Failure will be displayed.

Check Sensor Status: review a list of sensors connected to your system to ensure all are communicating and trouble-free.

  1. When you panel is in a disarmed state, press the down arrow to scroll to Sensor Tests, then press OK.

  3. Enter your master code, then press OK.

  5. Trigger each sensor you wish to test.
    • • Open and close door or window sensors
    • • Press any button on your keyfobs
    • • Walk in front of motion detectors, or trigger manually by removing the cover
    • • Hold the test button on your smoke or heat detectors
    • • Hold the test button on your carbon monoxide detector
    • • Open the cover on any flood or glassbreak detector to trigger the sensor

  6. The Simon XT beeps up to 8 times indicating the signal strength as follows:
    • • 1 to 3 beeps = Poor
    • • 4 to 5 beeps = Marginal
    • • 6 to 8 beeps = Excellent

  7. The sensor test ends when all sensors are tested or by pressing Status.

Bypass Sensors

  1. Open a door or window, then press Doors + Windows to begin arming the system.

  3. Press Bypass or Ok. The Simon XT panel announces Sensor Bypassed and arms the system.

Change Master Code: updates the code which has master access to your system.

  1. Press Scroll Down button until System Programming is displayed on the screen, then press the OK button.

  3. Enter your current master code, then press the OK button.

  5. Press the OK button, then press Scroll Down button until master code is displayed on the screen, then press the OK button.

  7. Enter your new master code, then press the OK button to save it.

  9. Press the Status button several times to exit programming.

Lost Master Code:: allows you to update your master code in the event that it is lost or forgotten.

  1. Press the Scroll Down button until System Programming appears on screen, then press the OK button.

  3. Enter the default installer code (4321), then press the OK button.

  5. Press the OK button, then press the Scroll Down button until the master code appears on the screen, then press the OK button to select it.

  7. Enter your new master code, then press the OK button to save it.

  9. Press the Status button several times to exit programming.

Panic Buttons: quick keys that let you manually send a specified alarm type.

  • Hold or press Panic buttons twice to activate Police, Fire or Medical panic.

Set System Time: follow steps to enter the local time into the panel for reporting and scheduling purposes.

  1. From a disarmed status, press the down arrow until Set Clock displays, then press Ok.

  3. Enter your master code, press Ok to display the time, then press Ok to proceed.

  5. To edit Hour, press up or down to change it while it is flashing, then press Ok. Repeat this step while Minutes or AM/PM are flashing, pressing Ok after each one is set.

Volume and Voice Settings: adjust the volume and voice settings on your Simon XT vocal descriptions.

1. Start with your system in a disarmed state. Press the up or down arrows until you get to System Programming, then press Ok.

3. Press the down arrow to select Siren Options, then press Ok.

4. Scroll through the following options using the up or down arrows, then press Ok to set.

  • Piezo Beeps sounds during system activity.

  • Panel Voice announces arming levels, which includes Armed Stay, Armed Away, or System is OK.

  • Panel Piezo Alarm determines if panel siren sounds during an alarm.

  • Trouble Beeps sounds every minute when there is a trouble condition.

  • Voice Chime sounds when sensors open. Enter 1 to voice sensor name, 2 for a loud bell, 3 for a softer bell, or press Disarm for the chime to be off.

5. Status Beep Volume determines volume level for status beeps. Enter a value between 1 and 10.

6. Speaker Volume sets the volume for voice communications. Enter a value between 1 and 8.

7. Press Status several times to exit.

How to Power Cycle the Panel

1. Disconnect the transformer from the power outlet. Remove the top screw, then press the two tabs to open the front cover.

2. Flip the front cover down.

3. Apply pressure to spread the battery clips, then disconnect and remove battery. Wait several minutes before replacing the battery and restoring power.

5. Reconnect the battery matching the red terminal to the red wire and the black terminal to the black wire.

6. Flip the front cover up to close and finish.
